Foot Mobilisations and Manipulations is a hands on technique that is used to treat musculoskeletal conditions of
the foot. Foot Mobilisations and Manipulation work by releasing up restriction and stiffness of the joint in the foot
and leg. It helps to improve the position of the joint and helps to restore efficient biomechanics of the foot and leg.
What is involved during a Foot Mobilisation and
Your Podiatrist will perform gentle movements to the joints of the foot and leg, taking them through their natural
range of motion, some movements are done through high velocity. These movements will reduce restrictions in the
joint and break up any adhesions (scar tissue), improving pain levels and allowing for the joint to be in the best position.
Your Podiatrist will also be prescribing some at home mobilisations and exercises in between sessions, to help strengthen
your intrinsic muscles (foot muscles) and to reduce stiffness occurring in the joints.
How often do you need sessions?
Foot mobilisations and Manipulations initially require 2 sessions a week for 2 weeks, then 1 session once a week for 2 weeks,
1 session every 2 weeks, and then monthly sessions, to ensure all realignments and strengthening has been performed.
What conditions can Foot mobilisations and
Manipulations work for?
- Ankle Pain
- Midfoot Osteoarthritis
- Heel Pain
- Mortons Neuroma
- MTSS (Shin Splints)
- Aching feet
