A running assessment is designed for anyone who currently runs or would like to get into running. They are used to assess your technique and evaluate if there are any factors that may lead to you developing an injury.

Running is one of the most popular sports in Australia with over 3 million Australians participating in some form of running and is useful for improving your overall health and wellbeing. However, due to the repetitive nature of the exercise, inappropriate form can unfortunately lead to injury.

  • Assessment of footwear and whether appropriate for patient
  • Providing strength programs for technique improvement and injury prevention where needed
  • Tips for gait retraining
  • Assess potential need for orthotics to help with gait.

What does your running assessment Include?

Your running assessment at the Foot Centre Group will include the evaluation of your muscle strength and joint range of motion. This is used to assess your lower limb stability and control which is pivotal in reducing your likelihood of injury. 

Some of the tests you can expect are::

  • Single leg squat
  • Balance assessment 
  • Joint mobility testing of the foot, ankle and hips
  • Footwear assessment and advice

In addition to the above testing, your running technique will be recorded, which allows our podiatrist to assess your technique and provide you with cues to improve any inefficient running mechanics you may have.

Yes, depending on your level of cover and if you have podiatry coverage you will be able to use your private health

What should I bring?
No restrictive clothing that you are comfortable to run in. We also recommend you bring your regular running shoes.
