Ingrown Toenail Treatment in the Bayside Area
Ingrown toenails occur when part of the nail (often a sharp spike) pierces the skin and causes the toe to become red, inflamed and very painful. It is important that an ingrown toenail is attended to by a podiatrist as soon as possible to have the spike of nail removed, and to prevent the toe from becoming infected and more inflamed.
If you have a persistent ingrown toenail, a small surgical procedure can be done that provides permanent removal of the piece of nail that is growing into the skin. The procedure is fairly straightforward and is performed in the chair following a local anaesthetic to the toe. Learn more about nail surgery here.
